27 April 2012: Seventeen Moments of Spring

27 Apr

Today I am grateful to the creators (especially the wonderful woman director Tatyana Lioznova) of Seventeen Moments of Spring – a cult Soviet spy TV series. It is my annual ritual to watch its 12 episodes in the run up to Victory Day (9 May). This drama is sublime. It is as much about the war, spying and intellectual puzzles as it is about existential and spiritual issues, such as what is a person, what is time, what is choice.
