Today I just remembered one New Year some years ago. My friend and I were traveling home. Air lines were on strike. An Eastern European airport was packed with people. My friend and I found two places to sit, next to a group of people from Central Asia. We had no reason to expect any favours from them, nor they – from us, Eastern Europe being famous for occasional and organised racism. Then all of a sudden a middle-aged woman from their group offered us their fur coat to put on the floor to have a lie-down.
